SuperDesign is a start-up founded by Thierry Giles, Manoj Mannepelli and myself in 2021.

We are challenging traditional vertical manufacturing models and long global supply chains through the automation and distribution of designs directly to manufacturing machines.

In general, most bespoke and custom design is more costly and labour intensive than that of mass production because of the extra work involved in creating each piece.

Economies of scale work against custom design as the specialisation of tasks, standardisation of tools equipment and processes, the bulk purchasing of materials, continuous production, and investment in specialised machinery can lead to significant cost savings over time.

Enter SuperDesign, we have developed a technology that converts custom designs of furniture and objects directly into machine code, and by coupling this with the ability to securely stream this code directly to CNC machines, we hope to promote the concept of distributed design and local manufacture.

It represents a major technological and business innovation, disrupting the current process of generic mass-produced imported furniture & goods and introduces a system of automated, and customized on-demand production.
